Ancient Stone Flames or ASF is India’s First Lava Stone Restaurant. This restaurant is located on the Old Mumbai highway, next to Gachibowli police station, Hyderabad.
Ancient stone flames BBQ & Grill is located on the first floor of Times Square, just above Ratnadeep supermarket on the Gachibowli – Old Mumbai highway. There is a basement car parking for the building, but you can easily find a parking space on the road, as it’s towards the dead end of the road. There is a stairs that leads to the entrance of the restaurant which is beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. The ambience of the restaurant is simple, neat with a good capacity to accommodate guests.
Like any other BBQ restaurant, a hot BBQ box is placed in the middle of the table, and on top of it, a hot lava stone is also placed. A spoon of oil is basted on the lava stone and fish tikka was placed on the hot stone. This was followed by Patrani paneer and veg gauloti kabab. Very soon, mutton sheek kabab was also placed on the lava stone.
For the veg starters, we were served with crispy corn and spicy potato. As always, crispy corn was really crunchy and was enjoyable for kids. Spicy Crispy potato was also good. Next, we tried Panner. The panner was soft and had a good marination. My kids loves panner, and they will happily have it in any form.
Then we took fish tikka, veg gouloti kabab and sheek kabab from the lava stone onto the plate. Fish tikka was roasted perfectly on the lava stone, and it tasted delicious. But it was mutton sheek kabab, which was the star of the day. The restaurant staffs were continuously filling the starters on the lava stone. Veg gouloti kabab was also flavorful, but it was too soft and it got broken multiple times.
We also got ASF veg roll and Chicken tangdi. ASF veg roll was crispy and it was nice to eat. Chicken tangdi had a good marination, but we felt it was too dry. We did give this feedback to the staff and moved on with the other starters.
For the soup, they had Mutton Marag for Non-vegetarians and cream of broccoli soup for vegetarians. We were particularly interested in mutton marag, as marag is rarely provided by any restaurant these days. They also had a small collection of salad.
For the main dish, ASF had 8 dishes each from Veg and Non-veg. For the non-veg, they had Fish curry, prawn curry and crab masala as seafood dishes. Chilli chicken and chicken fried rice as Chinese dishes, mutton nihari, butter chicken and chicken biryani from indian cuisine.
For Veg, they had Ghee sambar rice, veg dum biryani and plan rice for rice items. palak kofta, panner e lazeez and dal makhani for curries, mixed veg curry for sabzi and hot garlic noodles.
For this Sunday lunch buffet, ASF charges Rs 999 + tax for Non-veg buffet and Rs 899+ tax for veg buffet. The buffet prices are different for different days. Please do let me know in the comments below, if you need the price details.
We had booked the tables using Swiggy Dineout and we got a discount of 20% on the total bill amount. Apart from this, there is also a group discount, where a group of 5 needs to pay only for 4 persons. I guess, this is an inaugural offer, so pls check with the restaurant when you book the table.
Ancient stone Flame restaurant is a must try restaurant, specially for BBQ lovers. Since this is the first time that Lava stone is introduced in a restaurant, Guest who are curious to try food on lava stone will find it interesting. Though the number of counters like wish grill, or live counters are less, it is certainly a lively restaurant that kids and parents will enjoy dinning here.
